Upon the generous invitation of the Science & Technology Park \u010ca\u010dak, Tijana \u017duni\u0107 Mari\u0107<\/a>, Partner at Zunic Law, held a lecture on \u201cConfidentiality & Personal Data Protection in the IT Sector\u201d on April 1, 2019, within the \u201cSerbian Digital Week\u201d program at the premises of the Cultural Center \u010ca\u010dak.<\/p>\n

Within the national program \u201cSerbian Digital Week\u201d, the Science and Technology Park \u010ca\u010dak organized a series of events with the aim to familiarize interested participants with modern trends and possibilities in IT, as well as to raise the awareness of the legal regulations in the field of information technologies.<\/p>\n

During the interactive lecture, Tijana \u017duni\u0107 Mari\u0107 talked about trade secrets and confidentiality, as well as personal data protection<\/a> from a legal standpoint. By sharing examples from the practice, Tijana \u017duni\u0107 Mari\u0107 rounded up these topics and familiarized representatives of IT companies, business sector, social organizations, as well as representatives of academic and governmental institutions from Central Serbia.<\/p>\n

The first part of the lecture was dedicated to the importance of keeping trade secrets and confidentiality<\/a>, typical mistakes made while drafting and executing NDAs<\/a>, as well as on the importance of confidentiality procedures and provision of the non-compete clause<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The second part of the lecture was dedicated to issues concerning the rules and implementation of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR<\/a>), as well as the new Law on Personal Data Protection. The vast majority of the questions posed during and after the lecture was related to the dilemmas and ambiguities surrounding the application and harmonization of procedures with the new Law on Personal Data Protection, as well as on the territorial scope of GDPR.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

We remind you that the application of the new Law on Personal Data Protection starts on August 21, 2019, so it is necessary to educate company representatives and employees on the new way of processing personal data, as well as to harmonize the personal data protection procedures, in order to be prepared in time and in compliance with the new Law.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n
