Tijana Žunić Maric Lecturer on the topic of Arbitration in the Bar Association of Vojvodina

14/04/2018

On April 13, 2018, the Academy of the Bar Association of Vojvodina organized a training for lawyers on the topic “Arbitration: launch and organization of the proceedings, submissions, costs”. The aim of the training was to familiarize lawyers with the conduct of arbitration proceedings, as an alternative to the proceedings before state courts.

The main lecturer in the training was prof. Maja Stanivuković, Ph.D., Professor at the University of Novi Sad, Faculty of Law, President of the Belgrade Arbitration Center and a leading Serbian expert with an impressive experience in international arbitration.

Attorney Tijana Žunić Marić acquainted the participants in front of Zunic Law Firm on the topic of “Costs of arbitration” and pointed to the difference between calculating cost and advance on costs of arbitration proceedings and advance on costs in court proceedings. A special emphasis was put on the comparison of costs of the dispute proceedings before the Commercial Court and the Belgrade Arbitration Center (BAC). Likewise, Tijana is the secretary of the Belgrade Arbitration Center, an arbitration institution founded under the auspices of the Arbitration Association.

The third lecturer was attorney Dragan Psodorov, a member of the Arbitration Association, who pointed out to practical problems to the participants regarding the recognition and execution of foreign arbitration awards.

Zunic Law Firm strongly supports organization of such and similar training within the Bar Association of Vojvodina and it is our pleasure to participate in such events.
