Employment Law Training

Employment law is constantly evolving. Legislative changes, new inspection practices, hybrid work, and digital tools all influence everyday HR and management.

Our employment law training is designed to provide practical, clear, and applicable solutions to these challenges through dedicated programs for managers and separate programs for employees.

Training can take place at your company’s premises or online, and the content is adapted to your sector, processes, and internal policies.

In addition to tailor-made corporate training, we also organize webinars on the Zunic Law Training page covering focused, deep-dive topics.

Formats: In-house, Online, or Blended

  • In-house (at your premises): interactive workshops with examples from your own practice, with the option to work directly on internal policies and documents.
  • Online (live): equally interactive, with moderated discussion, Q&A, and mini-quizzes, ideal for distributed teams and multiple sessions.
  • Blended: a combination of one introductory in-person module and shorter online sessions tailored to different business functions.
  • Language: Serbian and/or English.
  • Materials: practical checklists, templates for internal notices and decisions, and decision trees for typical scenarios.
  • Certificate: electronic proof of attendance upon completion.

Two Targeted Tracks: Managers and Employees

1) Employment Law Training for Managers (executives, HR, and team leads)

Focus on accountability, timely decisions, and demonstrable compliance. We work through real situations: how to act immediately, what to promise or not promise to an employee, which document to sign and when, and which deadlines must never be missed.

What managers gain:

  • Confidence in communication and decision-making.
  • A standardized approach that reduces legal risks and complaints.
  • Practical “if → then” scripts for the most common situations.

Example topics (indicative):

  • Employment relationships from start to finish: contract types, probation, amendments, fixed-term and remote work.
  • Working time and absences: overtime, night and shift work, annual leave, sick leave, parental rights, and record-keeping.
  • Performance management and disciplinary procedures: warnings, temporary suspension, fact-finding, deadlines, and proportionality.
  • Termination of employment: grounds for dismissal, procedural steps, collective redundancies, mutual termination, and best practices for exit interviews.
  • Prohibition of discrimination and harassment (mobbing): prevention, reporting, investigations, and protective measures.
  • Employee data protection: what data may be processed, record-keeping, video surveillance, monitoring tools, and communication with staff.
  • Internal acts and compliance: work regulations, compensation policies, codes of conduct, and BYOD/remote work policies.
  • Relations with unions and employee councils: consultations, notifications, and collective agreements.
  • Sector-specific issues: IT/project work, manufacturing/shift work, retail, logistics, and finance.

Note: topics can be customized. We can remove what is not relevant and expand on what is most important, for example, focusing only on termination and disciplinary issues in a two-hour module for team leaders.

2) Training for Employees

Focus on rights and obligations, a culture of respect, and early escalation of problems. The goal is to provide employees with a clear, accessible roadmap on how to exercise their rights, whom to contact, and how to document requests.

What employees gain:

  • Understanding of the rules without legal jargon.
  • Safe channels for questions and reporting.
  • Quick guides for typical workplace situations.

Example topics (tentative):

  • Basic rights and obligations: working hours, rest, breaks, overtime, benefits, and who to approach.
  • Sick leave, parental leave, and annual leave: how to request, deadlines, and required documentation.
  • Code of conduct and anti-mobbing: how to recognize issues, whom to report to, and what to expect from the process.
  • Occupational health and safety basics: employee obligations, incident reporting, and remote work.
  • Data protection and confidentiality: personal data, document handling, email and chat rules, social media, and how to respond to a data breach.
  • Use of employer’s property and privacy rules for tools: laptops, phones, applications, monitoring, and transparency.

Note: topics can be customized. For example, for customer support, we emphasize communication and absence, while for tech teams, the focus is on remote work, BYOD, and data protection.

Tailor-Made Corporate Training and Public Webinars

  • Tailor-made: programs are designed based on your internal acts, contractual obligations, and risks identified in past audits or inspections. We use your examples, adapt schedules and duration (from 90 minutes to full-day workshops), and, if needed, prepare an internal guide after the training.
  • Webinars on the Zunic Law Training page: shorter (60–120 minutes) deep-dive formats on specific topics, open to multiple companies. Ideal for refreshing knowledge or preparing for upcoming legislative changes.

Example topics for tailor-made training and webinars:

  • Termination of employment “without mistakes”: documenting reasons, deadlines, and evidence.
  • Overtime and Sunday work: planning, calculation, and inspection focus.
  • Workplace harassment and prevention: from report to protective measures.
  • Remote and flexible work: contracts, costs, data protection, and OHS.
  • Compensation policies and variable pay: transparency, conditions, and challenges.
  • Data protection in HR: employee files, video surveillance, testing, and monitoring.
  • Collective redundancies and restructuring: steps, communication, and dispute risks.
  • Agency and non-standard contracts: distinguishing and mitigating risks of hidden employment.
  • Industry-specific issues: retail (shift work), logistics (night work), IT (projects/remote), manufacturing (OHS focus).

Note: All topics are customizable. The final program is agreed with your company.

How a Typical Training Works?

  1. Quick discovery (30–45 min): review of your internal acts and priorities, definition of audience (managers vs. employees), and goals.
  2. Agenda proposal: we suggest modules, duration, and trainers, and adjust together.
  3. Delivery: interactive lecture plus case studies, in-person or online.
  4. Q&A and “what-if” scenarios: discussion of concrete situations from your practice.
  5. Materials and follow-up: checklists, templates, and short summaries; optional mini-quiz to verify knowledge.
  6. Report and recommendations: updates to policies/processes, identification of key risks, and quick wins.

Duration, Group Size, and Additional Options

  • Duration: from 90 minutes (micro-modules) to 3–4 hours (half-day) or 6–7 hours (full-day). Series of modules available for different functions.
  • Group size: recommended 10–25 participants per session for maximum interaction. For larger groups, we suggest webinar format with segmented Q&A.
  • Documentation: we can adapt your Work Rules, discipline toolkits, and templates for notices/decisions.
  • Recording: available on request for your internal LMS for a defined period.
  • Confidentiality: protected by standard NDA; examples are anonymized and never include confidential data.
