Partner Tijana Žunić Marić participated as a speaker at DSC Europe 24, the leading European conference on artificial intelligence and data science, held in Belgrade from November 18 to 22. The conference gathered over 3,000 experts and professionals in the field, with a program featuring more than 100 talks on diverse AI and Data Science topics, including generative AI, NLP, computer vision, robotics, data engineering, and more.
During the event, Tijana participated in a breakout session on November 22 with a presentation titled “Deepfakes and Ethics: The Battle for Trust in the Digital Age.” Her presentation focused on the social and legal implications of the increasing use of sophisticated deepfake technology, emphasizing the threats such content poses to individuals, organizations, and society, particularly regarding the spread of misinformation, privacy violations, and reputational damage.
Tijana explored the legal aspects of deepfake misuse and discussed the challenges this technology presents to digital companies. She also presented strategies for mitigating risks and managing the impact of deepfake content, particularly in the context of recently adopted EU legislation, including the Digital Services Act and the AI Act. The audience had the opportunity to learn more about how these laws regulate deepfake content and the obligations they impose on digital platforms.
Her lecture sparked an important discussion on this pressing issue. In a world where distinguishing reality from fiction is becoming increasingly difficult, deepfake technology poses one of the greatest challenges of our time. Tijana’s presentation provided valuable insights into the legal and ethical dimensions of this topic.
With its impressive turnout, DSC Europe 24 underscored the importance of exchanging ideas and experiences in this critical field. We are exceptionally proud that Zunic Law had its representative at such a significant event.
